Brown Bag Lunches

Brown Bag Lunches

I was first introduced to the concept of Brown Bag Lunches during my coach training. On at least one day of the training the course leaders would invite us to an extra lunchtime session. We’d leave the venue, get a take away lunch, bring it back to the room and over lunch we’d get some more valuable learning.

The whole idea of learning in your lunch hour is especially popular in New York (where lunch is for wimps, right?) and many companies lay on lunch time seminars for their employees. Of course being New York most people nip out to the nearest deli and bring back their lunch in…you got it…the ubiquitous brown paper bag! As a result the lunchtime seminars became known as Brown Bag Lunches.
Brown Bag Lunches are great for delivering bite size chunks of learning or training to time impoverished businesses where time is of the essence (where isn’t it these days?). Short sharp focused interventions targeted to a particular audience can be delivered in a very short space of time with little or no loss of productivity. By breaking things down into modules a more extensive course which might be delivered over one or a number of days can be delivered in four or more lunch time sessions.
Now, it might be a bit of a culture shock to the average or even not so average British worker to ask them to give up their lunch break so you might wish to consider sessions at the beginning or end of the day. A Brown Bag Breakfast or Brown Bag Tea if you will!
We understand the time pressures that businesses and busy professionals operate under so we have designed a number of modular 90 minute Brown Bag Lunch (or Breakfast or Tea) seminars based on our Full Engagement principles. We’ll even provide the lunch!
