Employee Engagement Boosts Earnings
Are you fully engaged? Are your employees fully engaged? By fully engaged, I mean are you physically energised, do you have good relationships and are your communications positive and free from rancour, resentment and bitterness, are you mentally focused and do you know what you want and know with absolute certainty when and how you are going to get it? If you (or your employee's) answer "no" or "not sure" to any of these questions you could be missing out on some real income opportunities.
Recent research by Gallup has found that "higher workplace engagement predicts higher earnings per share among publicly traded businesses". Staggeringly gallup found that earnings per share (EPS) grew 2.6 times more for companies who's employees exhibited a high level of engagement compared with companies with below average levels of engagement.
Furthermore "top-quartile business units have 12% higher customer advocacy, 18% higher productivity, and 12% higher profitability than bottom-quartile business units. Conversely, bottom-quartile business units experience 31% to 51% more employee turnover, 51% more inventory shrinkage, and 62% more accidents than those in the top quartile of workplace engagement".
Of course the question of earnings does not just apply to publicly listed companies, there are lessons in here for all businesses whether sole traders, SME or large corporations. What would 18% higher productivity or 12% higher profitability do for your business?
